Modkat XL

Our new kitten was kicking litter everywhere with a traditional litter box and making a complete mess. My mom sent me the link for the original Modkat and after doing some research, we got the Modkat XL and configured it for top entry only. She has zero issue going in and out and there has been no litter outside since. Love it so far, worth the money.

Just setup the box tonight. Was easy to do, only took a few moments. Was worried if the boys would take to the new box, though they did right away! Was surprised how much litter the XL box can hold! I am currently using the front entry setup, for that’s what they’re used to. May try opening the top entry too. Will see in a month how easy it is to clean?

It’s worth the investment! One of our litter boxes is in my office and it the perfect fix ! It’s inconspicuous and nicely designed. Most of all my cats love standing on top of it, going through the top or side, and looking through the sunroof when doing their duty. We love it !

My dogs were making a mess with my cat’s previous litter box, I was concerned my 9 year old cat wouldn’t adjust to a top entrance but after coaxing her inside, she took to it right away. Now there’s no mess and she feels more private and secure. Win Win!

This is my 3rd ModKat box & 2nd XL. I tried to get by with using a storage tote with flimsy plastic liners for a litter box but it was no match for one of my kitties who likes to stand to pee. :/ I’ve owned ModKat boxes for years so I know they are durable and stylish. I realized I needed to quit messing around with a do-it-yourself, rigged box (since cat pee is no joke) and shell out the dough for a sure thing. We’re all much happier. First, all three of my cats use the XL box with no issues, I purchased two and will probably be ordering a third since I have 3 cats. I am using it as a front entry and I do keep the lid half open. None of them have a problem with the liners. It was a bit tricky to put together the frame for the lid and I do think there is an opportunity for improvement with the tabs and hooks for the liners. I like the height of the box and while litter still gets scattered when they leave the box, it is not too bad. I don’t use the scoop, I prefer stainless and do wish that was an option. I would not hang a scoop without something under it, that could be another improvement. All in all, while pricey, it was a good purchase.

I’m not having any of the problems that other reviewers have mentioned.

I have two cats. Both littermate rescues. My male is, what I believe, to be part Maine Coon as he is over 20 lbs. It's been hard to find a big enough litter box for him and the normal boxes I was buying at the big box stores, with their seams, weren't cutting it. Cat urine would sometimes make its way out of the box where the bottom and lid met and leak onto the floor (like, who is peeing straight out and not squatting?) This box has been a life saver! I am going to buy another one to replace my other old litter box! FYI, I use the front entry method on this box. Well, I don't. My cats do =)

Hello Modkat Makers!! My very modern daughter suggested my two fur baby boys, Ashton and Charlie, needed a new updated means to take care of "their personal business!" I’m so happy with my purchase. I have a cat that has an issue with pee marking. Thankfully he can’t pee outside of the XL I purchased. First time cleaning yesterday and I am in shock with how fast, easy and non smelly it was. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Maynard prefers a clean litter box. He did not appreciate how his previous litter box retained odors. If not cleaned sufficiently and in short order, he’d pee outside the box. The thick, durable liners solve the odor problem! I ordered a three-pack so I can rotate them out, air them out, wash them, or even dispose of them. Maynard took to the new box quickly and loves top opening. One thing I have noticed is the liner sometimes slips off or dislodges a hook. Easy enough to fix but worried the hook may break eventually. Overall love the looks and the functionality. Exactly what Maynard and I dreamed of!

Easy to clean, easy to set up and cats dig it! Love the large mat for litter tracking. Worth every penny

This thing is HUGE, but in the best way! It easily has enough room for my cats to get in and out of without any problems. I love that it is versatile. Means I don’t have to get a new box for every apartment I live in, depending on space. It is VERY easy to clean and the liner is extremely nice. I know that this box will last a long time due to the liner and overall care that went into making it. Can’t recommend this brand enough!

I have had the Modkat XL litter box for about ten days. I purchased it because one or more of my cats doesn’t squat and urine ends up over the edge of a traditional litter box (or out of the hinges for the lid on this litter box’s predecessor). My home office constantly smelled bad despite daily cleaning of the litter box. I am using the side entry due to one elderly feline. All three cats liked it right away. I still have one cat that gets into the box and pees out the entry which I control with a silicone mat with a rim. Otherwise it was easy to put together and I like the idea of the liner. Too soon to tell on durability. My only complaint is the price. I would like to get another one but it feels like a lot of money to spend on litter boxes.

Upgraded to the bigger box when my kitten hit 15lbs so he could poop in comfort. He took to it quickly and without issue! I love how this box also has a side entry option for one day when he doesn’t want to use the top hole. Only complaint is that litter gets stuck on the top lid kind of in the lip near the edge, but that does’t impact use, nor does more litter get on the floor than the smaller box. Happy with this purchase!

I am very happy with this litter box for a number of reasons. First, the top-entry design and the grated top make litter trekking much less of a problem in our home than it was previously. The box looks good and we have it right next to our couch — it doesn’t look ugly at all! I’m happy with the fact that it comes with liners as well. We purchased the litter mat with it and are equally content with that. I recommend this XL litter box!

My 9 pound female 5 year old likes to pee standing up so my new amazing Modkat XL litter box is the puuuuurfect box for her. It is set up for top entry of course. The XL is the tallest box out there to my knowledge and I no longer have to clean up cat pee outside the box. I used to have 2 litter boxes set up for her as she will not use a dirty box as in even if there is one poo or one pee ball in there! This box is spacious and tall enough to replace BOTH top entry litter boxes i had before. My only beef is this box is on the expensive side. Not sure how a a piece of plastic can be so expensive but i am glad i purchsed this box. My kitty LOVES this box.

My cat is only 10 lbs but she is a long girl so I’ve had to use a longer (ugly) litter box. Since I have a small apartment and I need to give her two boxes, I tried the Modcat XL hoping it would work for both of us without being such an eyesore. Using the Modcat as a front entry with the top half open works perfectly for her. She happily used it and I think she might even find the higher sides and the liner more satisfying to scratch. I just ordered a second Modcat to replace her primary box in my living room and can finally take away the litter box screen.

Easy to assemble. Good size for larger cat

After trying a half dozen boxes including home made ones made out of 45 gallon bins, I needed something with more height, better odor control, and easier to clean. I’m totally blown away how a perforated top can still keep odor in check. The height also keeps our boy from being able to kick up waste debris. My only complaint (Not Modkat’s fault) is most of the time our cat will leap out and clear the perforated top. So litter occasionally gets tracked. But the design of the top does still help and I wouldn’t change a thing. Maybe a slightly taller version for bigger cats. All in all we love it! Can’t live without it.
