We have 5 cats. I heard about Modcat on Wirecutter and decided to try one. It is fantastic. Easy to clean. Sturdy, etc. Cats like it. I am in the process of replacing all of our litter boxes with Modcats.

My cat loved it right away -- She hopped right inside and I haven't had any issues with litter tracking since. Great upgrade to her old litterbox!

I’ve just moved into a studio apartment where I knew I needed a newer, nicer looking litter box. After looking at some automatic ones (all in 300-600 price range… no thanks) I found modkat’s top entry litter box but I didn’t like the $100 price tag. After not being able to find any alternative that looked as nice I caved in and bought this one and absolutely love it. No regrets. It looks so sleek in my apartment and doesn’t “scream” litter box when you see it. It’s also so easy to clean and my cat took to it very quickly. Litter still gets on the floor but more or less at the same rate of my old box, even with a litter mat. That being said I don’t think it can get any better so that’s no issue to me, I will be keeping this box and if I need another one I will come back to modkat.

My cat makes a big mess of litter and this is the only box that keeps it inside, instead of all over the floor. My cat is pretty big, 14 pounds, and I thought she wouldn’t fit. But it is totally fine for her and she can turn around and scratch at the litter. After about 16 months, I ordered some new liners. The box looks as good as new.

Had to find a new litter box for my cat since our dog found a new taste for ‘kitty treats’. The Modcat top entry litter box is perfect in every way. Our medium sized dog cannot get access to the ‘treats’, the cat loves it and it definitely reduces the amount of litter on the floor. Great design and product!!!

Absolutely love this cat tree. It’s chic and easily assembled! My cat is getting used to it currently, but he loves looking out the window from the top and loves playing with the little hanging fur ball.

So I want to start by saying that I am in the process of returning the top entry litter box BUT that’s through no cons on Modkat’s part, well, sorta. I’ll get to that in a moment. My product was great and well designed and I really appreciated the toy they shipped with the product. Unfortunately, I just have a long cat and he was too awkward with the 15” height and I suspect it would be the same problem for even the Modkat XL option which is only 2” taller. My cat really tried his best to adjust but I could tell he was uncomfortable trying to hunch down (although a few times he did contortion through the top entry while doing his business). So overall function and look? 5/5 stars. My only critique and why I gave 4/5 stars is perhaps having a taller option for the long boys and girls, maybe a 20” height? If you have a cat on the shorter side it should work fine, mid-size cat maybe size up to Modkat XL. Back to the drawing board for my buddy and finding a top entry that suits his length.

When we adopted our kitty, my boyfriend insisted on getting one of those automatic boxes that scoops itself (PetSafe). It was… fine (cat used it), but really clunky and difficult to keep clean because of all the little nooks and cracks. I also noticed that despite how big it is, our kitty had not quite enough space to turn around comfortably, which sometimes led to her stepping in the poop - a lot of room was taken up by the electronics, leaving less room for her.

After almost a year of that I persuaded him to try this one and honestly I’m so much happier - our cat took to it right away and it gives her more space to do her business. It’s a breeze to scoop and I love how the lid swings up or comes off depending on what you need, and how the caught litter falls back down into the box. Much easier to keep clean - I don’t miss the automatic box at all! It’s very sturdy and I think it will hold up well.

I didn’t even get the litter box out of the box when it arrived before my cat jumped right in. He immediately preferred this box over his previous. I’m so thankful because now it doesn’t feel like I live at the beach

This is one of those purchases I wish I made years(?) ago. Great design, less mess, my cat took to it right away. Five stars.

I have three and I want more! The design is elegant, most people don’t notice they’re litter boxes, and where I use those boxes there’s no litter tracked around at all

I just adopted “Bella”, a rescue kitty, several weeks ago. When I brought her home, I had a regular cat box on hand and was constantly sweeping up litter. Then I decided to look for a top entry litter box, like I had used with a past pet. I found Modkat online, placed an order and since it arrived there has only been minimal litter to sweep up. In fact, I would call the Modkat litter box a 100% improvement over that first litter box. Bella had no problem adjusting to the top entry style and I would say we have the makings of a beautiful relationship - Bella, me and Modkat. Thanks for a wonderful product!

I had used like 5 different kinds of litter boxes before this one and I’ll never go back. Not a single drop of litter gets outside the box, so it’s incredibly clean. Also, my cat is completely BLIND and had no problem adapting to this, run don’t walk if you’re struggling with litter box aesthetic/functionality. :)

Love this purchase for our two new kittens! Its so discreet, easy to clean and change litter. Gives each cat so much privacy as well.

I wanted to get a second litter box for my 9 month old kitten. I really wanted it to be a top entry litter box because I find that those do a much better job of keeping the litter in. It fits perfectly in the corner I put it in. It’s sturdy yet it’s not too heavy when filled, so I can still move it around. The liner was an unexpected bonus. It doesn’t take that long to clean the whole thing out. And I even took the litter box with me on a weekend getaway with my kitten. It didn’t tip over in my car. It’s easy to remove the top and get better access to clean it out everyday. I’d get this again.

I wish I had found this litter box years ago, however I am so glad my cat and I have it now!! The design is so discreet and so smart!! It's easy to clean (love how the top swivels up), the liner stays firmly in place and I love how the scooper can hang on either side of the box!! My cat is a side pee-er so this created lots of messes with the other box we previously owned. You will not be disappointed with this company or this litter box!! I have already told all of my friends and they have started replacing their old litter boxes! Bravo Modkat, you deserve a perfect 10!!! THANK YOU!!!

Modkat Litter Box

I love the clever design; the top panel doubles as a litter mat. Also, it takes of very little space in my rather small bathroom.
I was hesitant at first about the top entry, but my five-month old kitten figured it out pretty quickly.

I was worried at first my cat wouldn't get used to it, but after a day of protest (I took the lid off to start), he was using it like normal! I put the lid back on after a week and it's like we've never had another box. Thanks!!

We are loving our Modkat. We live in a small NYC apartment and the only place for the little box is in our living room so I wanted something to look sleek and not like a litter box and that is exactly what Modkat is. We just adopted a little kitten and I was worried he wouldn’t be able to get in it at first, but he learned and adjusted so quick to it, it wasn’t a problem at all. My favorite part is Modkat really went the extra mile and included a cardboard box with cut out holes and a ball to turn into a toy and it is probably one of my cats favorite toys. Thank you!
